The name says it all (and I think we’ve talked about this before—and to be fully transparent, I’m not great at actually doing it myself), but it really is powerful. Sometimes, when you’re not feeling well, a simple 8-minute call with someone you trust can make all the difference in your day.

Studies have shown that people who received short, empathetic phone calls over the course of just four weeks experienced a significant drop in feelings of loneliness, depression, and anxiety. Just a few minutes of real, caring connection can offer grounding, emotional relief, and a reminder that you’re not alone.

FAQs

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Suspendisse varius enim in eros elementum tristique.

Does talking to someone actually help anxiety?

Yes. Reaching out to a trusted person can ease anxiety through co-regulation, where another calm nervous system helps settle yours. You don't need advice or solutions; often just being heard lowers the intensity.

Why does connection calm the nervous system (co-regulation)?

Humans regulate through each other. A warm voice or a short call signals safety to your nervous system and dials down the fight-or-flight response. That's co-regulation.

How do you ask for support when you're anxious?

Keep it direct and small: "I'm anxious and could use eight minutes, can you talk?". Naming that you don't need fixing, just company, makes it easier to ask and easier for them to say yes.
